This summer, Students Tutor Students hosted its inaugural KickStart camp, a free online summer learning program for local elementary and middle school students. Students had much fun attending our two 2-week session camps featuring lessons in english, math, science, and art! We were also able to host fun camp-wide bonding sessions including movie and game nights, as well as guest speaker talks. The goal of KickStart was to inspire young students to go deeper and see the fun in their learning while giving them a “kickstart” to their learning this summer during the pandemic.

The KickStart Camp staff consisted of 20 passionate high school students from the Portland metro area, who, united through 200+ hours of diligent collaboration, were able to successfully plan and run this amazing experience. When we launched, we were blown away with the response. We had over 100 students attend. Many families contacted us to praise our efforts and multiple schools featured our work on their social media platforms. It was an incredible experience launching KickStart and witnessing the positive change we were able to impart on students’ lives. We, at Students Tutor Students, look forward to hosting more events like KickStart throughout this year as well as continuing our work toward a brighter future of learning!
